Hemorrhage or Hematoma following surgery is considered a Patient Safety Indicator (PSI) and is tracked as an AHRQ Quality Indicator by the US Department of Health. Excludes cases with a diagnosis of coagulation disorder.

Did you know? Documentation that bleeding is due to, secondary to or linked to an anticoagulant will exclude the surgeon from this metric.

Document when your patient’s bleed is due to:
• Aspirin
• Plavix
• Coumadin
• Xarelto
• Heparin
• Lovenox
• Other
